In my opinion, Michael Derosier is one of the most, if not, “the” most underrated rock drummer of all-time.
His work on Heart’s, “Bebe Le Strange” album is some of the best rock drumming I’ve heard, and has been a significant inspiration to me.
Powerful, clever, and creative may best describe Michaels drumming, and the track, “Strange Night” in particular may best demonstrate these attributes.
I was fortunate to have seen him perform this track live with Heart, where I was stunned to hear an even more powerful version of this incredible rhythm that Michael then seamlessly morphed into a beautiful solo, and then seamlessly back again to finish the song, leaving a flabbergasted audience and a brighter spirit in at least one young drummer who would never forget.
